OUR MISSION IN ACTION
Developmental Disabilities Ministries (DDM) empowers adults with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives through a variety of services. DDM operates 18 group homes across Georgia, providing personalized care and a supportive community. Their Residential Services offer habilitation and day programs, helping residents develop life skills and achieve greater independence. Navigation Services guide families through complex systems like Medicaid Waiver and Social Security, while Church & Community Services assist churches in creating welcoming environments for people with disabilities. DDM puts its mission into action through these initiatives, ensuring every individual reaches their highest potential.
OUR SERVICES
RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
Community Living Arrangement (CLA) services in Georgia provide 24-hour support in licensed homes for adults with developmental disabilities. Funded through Medicaid waivers and overseen by DBHDD, they offer individualized help with daily living and community integration to promote independence.
NAVIGATION SERVICES
It can be a lonely and overwhelming place trying to navigate Medicaid Waiver Services, and Social Security Benefits, find support groups, or a church that is welcoming to people with a developmental disability and their families.
DDM is committed to helping families find solutions and resources and providing education to people with I/DD and their families.
CHURCH & COMMUNITY SERVICES
In response to the growing need of churches for assistance in welcoming people with disabilities, DDM developed the Church Services Department.
This is a resource for churches and all who want to minister to people with special needs and their families.
DDM proudly provides Workshops and pathways to become Ministry Partners with churches. Please reach out if you are interested in learning more, or head over to our Ministry Partnership page here!
LEAP Program
LEAP stands for Life Enrichment Activities Program. At DDM, we believe that our residents deserve to have fulfilled and enriched lives. LEAP helps us make this possible.
Why does DDM need LEAP?
LEAP ensures that adults with developmental disabilities served by DDM have opportunities to grow, connect, and thrive. While Medicaid covers basic needs, it does not provide for the experiences that make life meaningful. LEAP fills that gap through community outings, creative activities, fitness, and faith experiences that build confidence and belonging. Supporting LEAP means giving our residents dignity, inclusion, and the joy of a full life.
How is LEAP funded?
LEAP is made possible through the generosity of donors. Most of its support comes from individual gifts, with some help from small grants. Because public funding does not cover enrichment opportunities, donor support is what makes retreats, banquets, and community outings possible. We are actively seeking additional grants to expand LEAP so more residents can take part in experiences that bring joy, dignity, and belonging.
How does LEAP benefit DDM residents?
LEAP gives residents the chance to take part in meaningful experiences they would not have otherwise. From the annual Resident Retreat and DDM's Christmas Banquet to community activities like attending local festivals, going out to eat, or joining fitness and arts programs, LEAP creates moments of joy and connection. These experiences help residents build friendships, grow in confidence, and feel fully included in their communities.
How can I help make sure LEAP continues to grow?
You can help LEAP grow by partnering with us and your community to create new enrichment opportunities for our residents. Sharing connections for activities, inviting residents to community events, and offering your time all make a difference. Financial gifts are another powerful way to support LEAP. Your prayers and volunteer efforts also play a vital role in sustaining this program and encouraging the people we serve.
